The winery operates in Villalba de los Barros, Badajoz, Spain, where it champions organic farming and low-intervention winemaking. Castúo Wines focuses on preserving the indigenous grape varieties of Extremadura and Portugal. In 2023, it expanded into vermut production, combining traditional methods with innovative approaches. Each bottle reflects the winery’s passion for quality and craftsmanship.
The Name: Inspired by Local Herbs
Jaramagos Vermut takes its name from the local herbs used in its production. The vermut starts with a base of white wine made from Morisca and Eva grapes, grown in Extremadura’s rich terroir. Native botanicals such as wormwood, lavender, thyme, and rockrose infuse the wine with earthy, vibrant flavors. These ingredients, sourced from the surrounding countryside, create an authentic profile that honors the region’s natural beauty.
An Aromatic Jaramagos Vermut
Vermut is a fortified wine infused with a variety of botanicals, including herbs, spices, and roots. It begins with white wine made from the Morisca and Eva grape varieties, which is then enhanced by the addition of wormwood, lavender, thyme, rockrose, and other botanicals sourced from the lush Extremadura countryside.
